Two Suspects Arrested in Louvre Heist Case

French police have made significant progress in the case of the spectacular theft of French royal treasures from the Louvre Museum in Paris, arresting two key suspects. These arrests took place a week after the daring robbery on October 19, during which a group of four people stole eight historical jewels worth millions of euros from the museum in minutes.
The arrests took place on Saturday evening, October 25. One of the suspects was apprehended at Paris's Charles de Gaulle Airport as he was trying to leave the country on a flight to Algeria. The second suspect was arrested shortly thereafter in Seine-Saint-Denis. Both arrested individuals, who are around 30 years old, were already known to the police for previous thefts. They have been detained on charges of "theft by an organized group" and "criminal conspiracy."
As a reminder, on the morning of October 19, around 9:30, a group of four people used a truck with a crane to climb up to the balcony of the Louvre's Apollo Gallery. After breaking a window, two of them broke into the museum, smashed display cases, and stole eight valuable jewels of the French crown, worth about 88 million euros.
The investigation, in which more than a hundred investigators are involved, is ongoing. Law enforcement hopes that the arrests will help not only to identify the other members of the gang but also to find the priceless treasures, which have not yet been recovered.
